There are few complementary therapies that offer much benefit to a patient with cancer . . documentation is scant or has found little evidence of efficiacy. What complementary therapy often does is make the patient feel more in control of their treatment . . make them feel, hope, and believe that their cancer will be the one that can be stopped . . it is far more about faith and wishful thinking than it is about anything scientific . . and it makes people feel good. As long as a patient tells their doctor what they are doing and makes sure that their complementary treatment is not intefering with traditional treatments . . and as long as the patient is aware that little evidence exists to support the efficacy of this treatment . . and as long as the complementary medicine is not horribly expensive (some people report $ 4000. a month for strict diets, products, vitamins, herbs, and supplements.)
