A Lot Famous Actors Have Ringing Ears

There are millions of people that live with the ringing in the ears, known as Tinnitus, every day. Some common Tinnitus symptoms include swishing, ringing, roaring or rushing sound that can be heard in the ears. This problem usually corrects itself unless there has been damage to the middle ear, which could lead to this condition being permanent. Celebrities and famous people suffer also from this ailment either due to work related manners or a natural cause.

Loud noises can damage the ears and cause this ailment whether temporary or permanent. Sometimes the withdrawal of certain drugs or prescriptions that is taken on a regular basis will cause these symptoms. Aging is the main reason for this ailment, as a person ages there is a normal amount of hearing loss and this is accompanied by Tinnitus.

Movie stars and singing artist also deal with this condition. Leonard Nimoy (Spock) and William Shatner (Kirk) from Star Trek live with this ailment due to an explosion on the set around the mid-sixties. Barbra Streisand, Eric Clapton, Phil Collins all deal with this ailment. Barbra Streisand has said that she has been plagued since she was seven years old with this condition, and that is why she has such violent temper explosions at times.

Previous presidents, like Bill Clinton and Ronald Reagan, suffer with this condition. The famous Ludwig van Beethoven suffered with a rushing and roaring sound in his head, and it is believed that this condition is what pushed him into madness. There are several songs that have been written that contain the famous words ringing in my ears.

Tinnitus is not known as a disease but rather a symptom of a health issue. The leading cause for Tinnitus is advanced aging and the deterioration of the ear canals. Extremely loud noises like bombs exploding and air planes landing and taking off every day can contribute to Tinnitus.

There are two types of Tinnitus. The first one is objective and the second being subjective. In cases of objective Tinnitus the noise that plagues the patient can usually be heard by others. This type in most cases is caused by a muscle spasm in the middle ear causing clicks and cracks to be heard by the patient.

The second type is subjective Tinnitus which is usually caused by an otologic disorder. An otologic disorder is part of the same ailments that lead to hearing loss. There are medications that cause these symptoms as well like aspirin and very low serotonin levels.

Ringing in the ears is a complaint that doctors get almost every day. With millions of patients suffering with Tinnitus finding a solution is a must. Not only is this a nerve racking handicap it can cause other physical forms of harm to the body. With the lack of sleep, depression and agitation, all of which stresses the body and mind, this can affect a persons health.
