How to Identify the Major Menopause Symptoms
By Casey S Nears
Menopause is a condition that every woman on Earth goes through at some point. It is just one of the things that makes a person female. Lots of women do everything they can think of to delay it, but the fact is that, at some point down the road, their bodies will stop having their monthly cycles. Menopause’s arrival can be incredibly traumatic for some women, especially if they aren’t familiar with menopause symptoms. Everyone has heard the stories of women going through “the change” but what are the real symptoms that women should pay attention to? This article will tell you!
One of the most recognizable menopause symptom is the “hot flash”. A hot flash is best described as the “sudden onset of heat” feelings. It causes the face to flush and the body to sweat. It is kind of like somebody temporarily turning up the temperature of your body way too high. Some women say that it feels the same way they feel when they leave an air conditioned room and go out into a hot and sunny day, only it is more intense. Hot flashes can happen any time during the night or the day. When a hot flash occurs during the night, it is usually called a “night sweat.” One of the menopause symptoms that is harder to find is an irregular heartbeat. Some women notice that their heartbeat will suddenly speed up or it will slow down without them having to do anything at all to cause a reaction. A woman who is sitting still, to use one example, might feel hear heart suddenly start to race and then it might slow all the way back down to a resting rate without her having to move. Other women do not notice this symptom at all. It is not rare to only have this condition discovered during a routine check for something else. Usually it is when the doctor is listening to the woman’s heart during a routine exam that he notices the change. Depending on your age, this could be a menopause symptom.
Irritability is, perhaps, the most famous menopause symptom. Do you remember feeling generally cranky when you first started going through puberty—how suddenly just about everything seemed to annoy you? When a woman begins to go through the first stages of peri-menopause or actual menopause she might feel a lot of those feelings again. When a woman is of a certain age and, though she is normally very easy going, she starts getting angry and irritated for no apparent reason, she might not be suffering from PMS. It might actually be a signal that she has started menopause.
A woman’s life change is no barrel of laughs. Menopause is a drastic and unpleasant change for a woman to endure. Dealing with a woman going through menopause is no small feat for her loved ones either. Keep in mind while supporting your significant other that she does not have a say in what is happening to her right now. The changes her body is experiencing and reacting to are involuntary. Give her as much time and understanding as she might need to work through her inner demons. Once her body has completed the worst of the changes she will again become human. Being able to recognize menopause symptoms can assist loved ones with the right reactions to a menopausal woman.
